After sightseeing the impressive and monumental buildings in Karl Johan street: the neoclassical Royal Palace and the University, the Baroque National Theatre, and the Roman style Parliament House, we drive by the City Hall, the venue of the Nobel Peace Prize, and the renaissance quarter of Kristiania from 1600’s. Our car/coach continues to the Renaissance Fortress Akershus facing the trendy Aker Wharf, and to the Opera House with an exterior looking more like a glacier than an opera and ballet stage.
Then we head for one of Norway’s top ten tourist attractions, The Vigeland Park. More than 200 sculptures, all created by one single artist, Gustav Vigeland, can be found here. We will stroll through the park for about 45 minutes and you will be guided by the author of the book about this park. An illustrated copy signed by the author is included in the tour.
From the Vigeland Park we will be heading towards Holmenkollen Ski Jump, the National Ski Arena. From the top we will be able to admire the stunning view of Oslo and visit the world’s oldest ski museum exhibiting the 4000 years of Norwegian skiing history.
Pre-purchased tickets for the Ski museum are recommended but they can be also purchased on the day.
